EU-IN TTC Business Forum
The European Union and India are entering a new phase in their partnership. The conclusion of negotiations on the EU–India Free Trade Agreement, alongside the endorsement of the EU–India Strategic Agenda Towards 2030, provides a strengthened foundation for deeper cooperation across trade, investment, and digital transformation.
At the core of this partnership lies a shared priority: leveraging digital technologies to drive competitiveness, ensure trusted governance, and build resilient value chains. India has emerged as one of the world’s leading digital economies, driven by large-scale digital public infrastructure, a dynamic innovation ecosystem, and ambitious national initiatives in areas such as semiconductors, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence.
The European Union, through the Team Europe approach and the Global Gateway strategy, mobilises public and private investment in digital infrastructure, aligned with trusted standards, interoperability, and secure connectivity. The EU’s International Digital Strategy further underscores its commitment to promoting open, secure, and human-centric digital ecosystems, with India as a key partner.
The EU–India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) provides the central framework for advancing cooperation in these areas. Through Working Group 1 on Strategic Technologies, Digital Governance and Digital Connectivity, the TTC has structured engagement across digital public infrastructure, semiconductors, connectivity, data governance, and emerging technologies. This cooperation is already delivering concrete outcomes — including the Administrative Arrangement on Advanced Electronic Signatures and Seals signed in January 2026, which marks an important step toward enabling trusted cross-border digital transactions.
As both partners navigate a rapidly evolving global technology landscape characterised by increasing digitalisation, innovation competition, and the need for trusted systems, there is a clear need to scale and operationalise collaboration. The European Union contributes strong capabilities in advanced technologies, a robust innovation ecosystem, and extensive regulatory experience in building secure and interoperable digital environments. India, in turn, brings scale, talent, and a rapidly expanding digital economy.
This event supports a more outcome-oriented phase of TTC cooperation, with a focus on co-creation across industry, research, and innovation ecosystems. Strengthening interoperability, aligning standards, and facilitating market access will be key to unlocking the full potential of EU–India digital cooperation. Consequently, a high-level event report outlining key recommendations across the thematic areas for relevant policymakers will be developed in preparation for the upcoming EU-India TTC Ministerial.
This event is designed to bring together European and Indian policymakers, industry leaders, and research institutions to deepen private sector engagement in the TTC, identify concrete opportunities for collaboration, and generate actionable follow-up for the next phase of EU–India digital cooperation.
The event is organised by the Secretariat of the EU–India Digital Policy Dialogue, together with the EU Delegation to India and Bhutan and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). We are supported by our Industry Partners, the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) and National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM).
