Expert Exchange on DPI with Director General Roberto Viola

On the sidelines of the EU–India TTC Ministerial Meeting, the Director-General of DG CNECT, the EU Delegation to India, and the EU–India Digital Policy Dialogue convened a closed-door meeting with leading Indian experts to exchange on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The discussion explored the current outlook of India’s DPI initiatives and the EU’s digital identity wallet, comparing approaches to identity, trust architectures, and ecosystem governance.

Key themes included opportunities and challenges for cross-border interoperability, lessons from India’s governance models, and shared democratic values that could underpin deeper EU–India cooperation on digital wallets, technical standards, and ecosystem orchestration.
