The March Digital Chai Chat focused on two interconnected themes: the newly launched European Legal Gateway Office in India and skilled worker mobility in advanced technologies. Speakers from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the OECD outlined the roadmap for implementing the Legal Gateway Office — a first-of-its-kind initiative in a partner country — and identified the key bottlenecks slowing mobility for highly qualified AI and ICT professionals from India to the EU. Discussions highlighted the need to harmonise visa systems, address language barriers, and establish trusted mechanisms for verifying the practical technical skills of Indian candidates. Member States underscored that closing these gaps could significantly unlock ICT talent flows between the two regions.
