India AI Impact Summit 2026 – Working Breakfast Roundtable with EU-India Think Tanks

On the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the EU–India Digital Policy Dialogue co-hosted a breakfast roundtable on AI governance, bringing together EU and Indian experts across law, economics, AI research, and digital policy. Held under Chatham House Rule, the discussion centred on three themes: legal frameworks, inclusion, and digital competition. A clear consensus emerged that AI governance must go beyond safety to address interoperability, industrial capacity, and equitable access — and that regulation should enable innovation rather than constrain it. Participants also stressed that governance must be matched by infrastructure investment if both regions are to remain competitive.
